Small Tunes Podcast: “The Death of the Wren”

This episode’s tune is a little something for the upcoming holiday season: “The Death of the Wren.” This small, driving reel is not unlike many of the idiom, with echoes of more commonly heard melody lines hidden in its old measures. The title likely commemorates the killing of “the King of all birds” on St. Stephen’s Day, the day following Christmas.
